Hello ASU Preparatory Academy students and parents! I am one of the high school science teachers for the downtown Phoenix high school. Specifically, I will be teaching 11th/12th grade AS/A Biology, 10th grade Coordinated Science II, and a 12th grade Capstone class.
I went to high school in Tucson and did my first year of college at University of Arizona (Go Wildcats!) before transferring to University of Washington in Seattle. I received my degree in Biology and Physiology from University of Washington and love to share my enthusiasm for science with the students. If at any point, parents or students have any questions, comments, or concerns, I am happy to set-up a meeting time. Additionally, you may contact me here.

My love for life sciences led me to volunteer in a hospital in a rural village in Thailand. In this picture, I just finished assisting with 3 back-to-back "C" sections, and am holding one of the newborns.

I have spent many hours in laboratories and love all labs, but my favorites are definitely dissections. Here I am presenting on the anatomy of a sheep heart!

Throughout college, I spent several hours each day at the world-renowned University of Washington Medical Center. I worked for the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department, and also volunteered weekly in the Lung Transplant Department. I had a blast while there, and met many wonderful doctors, nurses, and other staff!

Where did my love for teaching start at? For my first Spring Break of college, I traveled alone to Cuenca, Ecuador, where I volunteered 10-12 hours a day at El Hogar pictured here, an orphanage for teen girls. Most of my time was spent helping them with English homework, but I also worked on science some with them, too!
